What to Expect for Your Carpet Installation
The Carpet Company 3 wants your installation experience
to be an easy and pleasant experience.
Below are some tips
on preparation and some information on what to expect from
the installers.
Before the Installers Arrive
1. Vacuum your old carpet thoroughly. This may seem like
a silly idea since you are getting brand new carpet. Vacuuming
your old carpet prior to its removal will cut down on the
amount of dust and dirt that becomes airborne when the carpet
is removed.
2. If you are moving your own furniture,
please have everything off the carpet areas that will be
replaced.
3. If you have made arrangements with the
store to have the installers move the furniture you should:
a. Remove all small items, breakable items from the furniture.
b. Move any plants.
c. Strip all beds of linens.
d. Remove items from under beds and from the floors of
closets.
e. Disconnect all electronics (stereos, tvs, computers,
etc.) if they will be moved.
f. Empty all any china cabinets, bookcases, or entertainment
centers.
Note: The installers are floor-covering professionals, not
professional movers. Please do not ask them to move anything
that is extremely valuable or fragile.
When the installers leave
1. You may notice a new carpet odor
during and immediately after your carpet installation. The
Carpet and Rug Institute recommends ventilating your home
for 48 to 72 hours by opening windows and operating your
HVAC to keep the air moving.
2. You may notice fiber balls or fluff
in your vacuum bag or on your new carpet. This is normal
and is a result of the manufacturing process. This will subside
with regular vacuuming with a quality vacuum cleaner.
3. Occasionally, a sprout or single tuft of carpet will
appear that is taller than the surrounding fibers. Do not
pull on these, simply cut them off.
